Why Canada’s conservatives are keeping quiet on abortion

When non-conservative politicians bring up the abortion debate on Parliament Hill, critics are quick to label those efforts as desperate scare tactics, fear mongering, and political opportunism at its worst. However, the leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft opinion on overturning Roe v. Wade (story released by Politico on Monday night), will assuredly, rightly or wrongly, unearth the abortion debate in this country, especially in the context of the current Conservative leadership race. 

However, according to recent polling on the matter, a significant majority of Canadian voters do want their party leaders to support women's right to choose.
